One of several sketches I did at my last store appearance. Various pens, white-out, and an ink-soaked paper towel, among other things, were used to get these effects.

Cool. I've been going through a bit of a DC phase lately myself.

Well, mostly it's just been an excuse to draw back views of Black Canary! You know, with her fishnet stocking covered butt! Haha. But I think there's a Red Tornado and a Batman in that bunch of stuff, too.

Thanks! I like to use whatever I have available to make an interesting mark. This piece was done on light sketchbook paper as well, where I usually use a heavy watercolor stock, so it brought a whole new set of challenges along. Glad you like it; thank you :)

Gorgeous work, as always. I just got a set of quill and speedball tips for dip inking ... any tips from the pro? :D

Sweet! Hope you enjoy it.

It took me a WHILE to warm up to the quill, but I can't ever go back now; the lines I get from "pen"-type pens are so flat and dead to me.

I don't dip, first of all. I use the dropper in the ink bottle and drip it onto the nib, shake off the excess, and get going. It's less messy that way.

There wil be frustrations; just chalk it up to a learning experience and move on. Can't wait to see some new pieces in the new technique!
