Sketch - Harvey Pekar

From the Ferret Press blog's "Character Wednesday" feature - the late Harvey Pekar, of American Splendor fame. A real favourite of mine, I was able to meet Harvey personally a couple of years ago at a talk held at Ohio State University. Funny, smart, and self-effacing to a fault. A real unsung hero of independent comics.

This is a portrait of a younger Harvey Pekar - circa maybe 1980. My likeness is not great; it's never been my strong suit. It's almost more of a technique study. 11x14", ink on paper.

We miss you, Harvey. You were one-of-a-kind.
