Wow - 2020's been a year, hasn't it?

I normally have a book out in February or March that collects my previous Inktober efforts. I had every intention of doing the same thing this year, but... man, that didn't happen, did it?

October came and went this year, and I had some comics work that I was doing, so I couldn't fit in an Inktober effort this year; I usually devote quite a lot of time and effort to it, so I didn't want to compromise that. Since I wasn't able to clear the slate ahead of time, I decided to take an Inktober break for 2020, after 5 straight years.

I was finally able to find the time to complete the retrospective book project over Thanksgiving break - and JUST IN TIME for gift-giving season.

I've tried to pull out all the stops this year, clocking in at 88 pages of content, behind-the-scenes sketches and warm-ups, a few commissions, bonus art, notes on tools & techniques, and even a proper introduction by prominent Muppet journalist Joe Hennes.

PLAY THE MUSIC, LIGHT THE LIGHTS is now available for order through Amazon in the US, Canada, the UK, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan. Due to the print-on-demand nature of the publication, readers in some countries are unable to order them. If yours is one of these countries, and you would like a copy - send me a note. I will have a small stock of extras that I can ship out myself, so don't hesitate to ask!

I'm already thinking about how I'm going to approach Inktober 2021; I really missed it this year, but I think a good reset will only make it better.

Hey, a huge thanks to everyone who checked out my eBay auctions for Inktober. The results were far and away greater than I could have ever expected, and we've covered all the hospital bills!

I'm close to settling on a print option - PROBABLY right here through DeviantArt, once I update the source files with clean scans. In the meantime, if anyone has a particular request for a drawing they would like to purchase as a print, let me know and I'll add priority to those.

I have kind of begun the design process on the art book for this year's Inktober, but probably won't have anything to announce until after the new year, but be on the lookout for that; I'm really excited to offer the set in book form. This year's book will be bigger and better than all of the previous years.

I'm back to work on many, many commissions that got back-burnered throughout October, so I'll be sharing lots of new drawings right here over the next couple of weeks.

I hope you all have a great Holiday season - thanks again for your continued support!

WE TAKE YOU NOW TO KERMIT THE FROG WITH ANOTHER FAST-BREAKING NEWS STORY…

ORIGINAL ART SALES UPDATE: due to some unexpected hospital bills, the original #Inktober drawings you’ve seen here will go up for sale on my eBay channel starting SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17th. Because some arrangements have been made with friends and family, a few of the originals will not be available publicly. But all remaining art will be up for purchase Sunday with bids starting at $20 each.

I’m close to settling on a print service to make high-quality art prints available for those who aren’t able to score an original; more news on that once the sale is over.

Link to my eBay store: www.ebay.com/sch/bennett9000/m…

Drawings will roll out throughout the evening tonight, starting at 6pm Eastern, and be available for 7 days. Please have a look if there are any you've had your eye on. Thanks again for all the enthusiastic support!

Sesame Street was a HUGE part of my childhood. I credit my early reading ability to it. So great to see the cast and crew of skilled artists and craftspeople still hard at work making things better for kids all over the world, even after 50 years. Here's to 50 more, CTW!

WHAT'S THIS?: an Inktober Project

The collection of my 2018 Inktober efforts is available now through Amazon.com; list price is $9.95. I will also have copies with me for sale at all of my convention appearances, and your purchase will include a free quick sketch on the inside, as a bonus. So if you'd like to see all of these illustrations in a lovely collected format, instead of the camera-phone WIP shots I posted here, click on through and order a copy for yourself! Thanks.

I also have many of the original drawings available for sale from 2015 to present. They will eventually find their way into my online store - but until that's ready, I'm offering them for sale at convention appearances and via email. They are $50 each, or 3 for $120. Contact me if there are any you're interested in buying, and I can let you know if they are still available.

There may be a few other dates added as they become available, so keep any eye on this space.
